THE BLOOD OF ELAND – 1 hour mini-series pilot episode
Logline/Synopsis
In 14th century England, an eight-year old boy witnesses the brutal murder of his father, a local aristocrat, at the hands of a political rival. After ten years in hiding, the boy, now a young man, finds the opportunity to exact bloody revenge.
In 1324, Sir John de Eland, a powerful Yorkshire nobleman of the WHITE ROSE dynasty, rode to the homes of the leading four families in Lancashire and killed the head of each household. The surviving sons of the murdered lords sought and were granted refuge in a local monastery, thanks to the connivance of Lady Lavinia Beaumont, widow of one of the murdered lords and mother to Adam Beaumont.
Ten years later, there is a new king on the throne of England, who promises an end to the bickering and quarreling that has torn the country apart in recent years. There is to be a new era of peace in the land.
Back from fighting in Scotland, Sir John and his entourage return to the North of England. Suspecting there may be those who feel “disenfranchised” Sir John visits the monastery and explains to the abbot that all surviving lords of the RED ROSE must swear allegiance to him, or else be deemed outlaws, as will be those who hide such outlaws.
The abbot shares the news with Adam Beaumont, who is more than happy to leave the monastery, along with his fellow kinsmen, and pay a visit to Sir John to bury the proverbial axe (literally.)
Little does Adam know, Sir John is actually his real biological father.
